FAQs Each season, I receive a number of emails with the same questions and thought it would be a good idea to put the answers here to expedite your queries. I still love to hear from you and welcome your emai ElzbethCJO@aol.com
Q. DO I PRODUCE A CATALOG? A. No. It's too expensive and everything is on this site. If you have any questions about a design or the kits, feel free to send an email (ElzbethCJO@AOL.com)
Q. Where can you buy Satin Covered Styrofoam Balls? A. When Maplewood Crafts went out of business, I panicked! I was fortunate to find FloraCraft in Southern California. They have been wonderful! If you require a quantity of 12 or more of a size and color, call Rose-800-833-2550 (CA residents 800-334-3742). If you want a selection of small quantities, go to their site (copy and paste) http://www.thecraftplace.com/store/category.cfm?Category=72 They have various size Satin Covered balls but are limited to special order for other shapes (call Rose).
Q. Do I sell ready made ornaments? A. No. The price would be prohibitive. If anyone wants an ornament ready made, send me an email with your design choice and I will give you a price. We can go from there.
TIPS! When you get your kit, be sure to fill the hole of the ball with glue and set aside to dry. I remove the hanger before I include it in the kit, but the hole is quite large and deep. Filling it with glue will allow the pins to have something to go into.
I like to use a Flat Head (Quilting) Thimble when I am pushing pins into an area where there are a lot of pins. If you make more than one kit, your fingers (thumb and fore finger) will be sore, initially, but will build up calluses and won't hurt before you finish your first ball. At least it does with me.....
When you receive your kit, separate all the parts (beads, bugles, etc) by spreading them out on a piece of velvet, velveteen or similar fabric and put each batch in a separate container (sectioned box is good) for easy access. You should also be checking to make sure all the parts are included. Let me know IMMEDIATELY if any parts are missing. ALWAYS BE SURE YOUR WORKSPACE IS OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN AND PETS. THE BEADS AND PINS CAN CAUSE INJURY IF SWALLOWED!
Make sure your hands (especially the one you hold the ball with) are clean. You might want to wear a latex glove to keep the white balls clean and free from body oil while you are working with it.
